Dance and music are performed at a folkloric ritual of Kashima-Nagashi. A small boat is made and pulled around the community in the evening. Small Kashima dolls made of straw and other plants are devoted to this yatai float. There is a river running through the community on which the boat is put and floated within the boundary of the community. The music during the rituals is played only with Japanese flutes and drums.
