It used to be offered at the annual festival of Kurotsuchi Hachiman Shrine, after which the lion visited the entrances of individual houses. In the late 19th century, Suzuki Umegor\u014d founded the Kurotsuchi Kagura Theater. Its kagura dance was performed to repel evil spirits and prevent the negative effects of ominous directions.
