The Bon dance was brought here by the Kamimura family of the village. The ancestors of the Kamimura family lived at Nabekura (in the former Hiraka Town). After a daughter of the family married a priest of Yōzōji Temple, she taught villagers around the temple how to dance. The Tanaka Dance is a very energetic dance only for men, who dance in leggings (momohiki) and a short jacket (hanten).
