Ōyu Bayashi is played at the annual festival of Ōyu Shinmei Shrine as an offering for the god of the autumn market, with prayers for rich harvests of all crops. On the day of the festival, Ōyu Bayashi is played once during the day and once in the evening on a stage set up in the district of the neighborhood association that is in charge of the festival in that year. The highlight of Ōyu Bayashi is Karame Bayashi (Karame music), with wind-like gracious horizontal movements of the players. The players perform Karame Bayashi elegantly not only with their instruments but also with the smooth movements of their face and body.
